Distinguish between the 3 regions of a coxal bone: ischium, ilium, and pubis
Distinguish the femur from the tibia and fibula.
The difference between the femur and the tibia and fibula is that the femur has a femur head which is the part that connects to the head the femur is also quit larger than the tibia and fibula
Use bony markings to determine which side of the body the coxal or femur bones are from
The bony markings I can from the femur to determine which side of the body is on by the. To determine which side the coxal bone is from you can look at the acetabulum which will be lateral. The head of the femur will always be medial and connect to the acetabulum.
Understand how all the bones of the lower limb articulate (join) together.

Identify specific bony landmarks that can be felt and seen, regardless of being covered by muscle and/or skin.
You are able feel the iliac crest, on really skinny people you might be able to see it also. The ischial tuberosity can also be felt when you sit for a long period of time. On the femur you cannot really feel anything because the bone is to deep in the skin and muscle. The picture below shows these bony markings. Unfortunately due to the hard conditions in concentration camps in World War II this picture is available.
